Title The role of personal protection in the prevention of accidental injuries in logging work
Bibliographic information Oct. 1984, Vol.6, No.4, p.263-275. Illus. 17 ref. Appendix.
Abstract The influence of personal protective equipment on the behaviour in regard to safety of a group of 1194 loggers was evaluated by a questionnaire survey. About 22% of the chain-saw operators reported occurrences of near injuries that had been prevented by some personal protector. Technically the logger's personal protective equipment functions well and few injuries occur to the protected areas of the body. Safety boots prevented the greatest number of injuries. A shortened version of the questionnaire is appended.
