Title Mining and deaths from chronic renal failure
Bibliographic information 11 Sep. 1982, Vol.2, No.8298, p.606. 10 ref.
Abstract This letter points out that a re-analysis of mortality data for various cohorts of US miners in uranium and other mining groups has indicated a possible excess mortality due to chronic renal failure, kidney disease, chronic nephritis and genitourinary disease. A low-level nephrotoxic effect may be operational throughout the mining industry or a subset of miners may be at substantially increased risk of renal disease.
