This study conducted in 3 printing firms showed the influence of work organisation on the operator's workload and stress, and revealed a relation between the degree of complexity of the texts and the operator's perceptive and sensory activities, and the role of the large number of codes used (these caused perturbation of the perceptive processes). Consequential health damage; recommendations concerning working conditions, codification systems, training and apprenticeship.
