Title Occupational exposure to hexachlorocyclopentadiene - How safe is sewage?
Bibliographic information 18 May 1979, Vol.241, No.20, p.2177-2179. 17 ref.
Abstract After a large volume of hexachlorocyclopentadiene had entered a sewage treatment plant, a number of workers immediately experienced tracheobronchial irritation. The plant was closed and workers were questioned and examined. Of the 145 workers evaluated, 85 (59%) had eye irritation, 65 (45%) headaches, 39 (27%) throat irritation. The highest attack rates were in primary sewage treatment areas. Examination revealed proteinuria and elevated serum lactic dehydrogenase levels.
