| Abstract |
The theoretical basis of the fitness for work regulations applicable to transport workers (effective 1 Oct. 1979) in the German Dem.Rep. is presented, and their place in the overall system of medical supervision of transport workers made clear. The regulations directly or indirectly cover all the important activities of the occupational physician. Their 4 elements (stress at the workplace, examination methods, fitness assessment, work organisation) are discussed at length. Other articles in this issue (p.273-306) deal with the impact of these regulations on the activity of plant health services. |
