Abstract The French Decree of 14 Nov. 1962 (CIS 63-228) prescribed the voltage limits for switchgear designed so as to avoid the dangerous potential of the equipment frame (to earth, or to a nearby frame) exceeding 24V (AC) if the frame is situated in a highly conductive enclosure or work site, or exceeding 50V (AC) in other cases. This Order allows for exceptions to this rule over a period of 3 years. A Technical Note (SEC/EL No.3) of 11 Aug.1977 issued by the Ministry of Labour, commenting on this Order, was published in Cahiers de notes documentaires - Sécurité et hygiène du travail, Paris, France, 1st quarter 1978, No.90, Note No.1105-90-78, p.157-158.
