| Abstract |
Protection of high-voltage substation personnel against electric fields can be afforded by screens over passageways and workplaces, or by metallic scrim clothing. Calculations to optimise the effect of screening are reproduced with results. For screens placed 2.5m above passageways, parallel 3-5mm conductors at intervals of 20cm are recommended, while screens at the workplace should be made of a square-mesh grid (mesh size 5-10cm). Metallic scrim clothing should cover the whole body and present a specific surface resistance of 10,000 ohms. |
