Title Myocardial infarction in car assembly workers.
Bibliographic information Feb. 1976, Vol.33, No.1, p.1-8. 23 ref.
Abstract The medical records of 12,811 workers employed from 1966 to 1972 were analysed. They were classified into production line and other groups, and the latter group into monthly paid employees and others. Standardised morbidity ratios (compared with the general population of the Oxford region) were: overall, 90; production line workers, 66; monthly paid staff, 272. Of survivors, 22 (90%) production line workers returned to their former jobs, most within 4 months. The findings suggest that workers in mass production jobs are not at special risk from myocardial infarction.
