Title Notes on the convention on electrical installations at construction sites
Original title A propos de la convention relative aux installations électriques de chantier. [in French]

Abstract On construction sites, the solution requiring each undertaking and each trade to provide a statutory installation cannot be applied. Thus the Organisation for Safety in Building Construction and Civil Engineering (Organisme professionnel de prévention du bâtiment et des travaux publics) in France has attempted to promote the setting up of a provisional collective installation by a specialist (generally the electrician responsible for installing the electricity in the building) on the basis of a convention that architects have accepted to include in their specifications when inviting tenders. The convention eliminates certain electrical hazards, promotes order, limits the number of cables, which are a cause of falls, and ensures correct lighting of communication ways. It further increases the efficiency of the site by facilitating detection of failures and improving operation conditions. The main aspects are illustrated by photographs taken on a work site, with comments.
