Title A simple chemical method for determining ethylene glycol in air
Original title Jednoduchá chemická metoda na stanovení etylénglykolu v ovzduší [in Czech]

Abstract The method described is based upon the oxidation of ethylene glycol by periodic acid in a dilute sulfuric acid medium. The formaldehyde produced by the oxidation is determined by polarography in a medium of excess lithium hydroxide, which simultaneously removes any remaining periodic acid. The method may be used to determine concentrations of ethylene glycol between 0 and 200µg/10ml of solution. Air samples are obtained by using frit absorbers. The absorbent solution used is distilled water.
