Title Tolerance to heat following cold stress.
Bibliographic information July 1973, Vol.44, No.7, p.725-729. Illus. 11 ref.
Abstract An investigation to ascertain the effects of precooling on performance in heat. The results of the study show that short exposures (30 min) to cold stress do not improve subsequent performance in severe heat. The reasons for this are related to the rise of rectal temperature in the cold, which does not result in a decreased heat storage in subsequent exposure to heat as compared with no precooling.
