| Abstract |
This report prepared by the Netherlands Committee for the Prevention of Disasters Caused by Dangerous Substances (Commissie Preventie van Rampen door Gevaarlijke Stoffen) is intended to give full information on the hazards of ammonia and to provide directives for its safe storage and transport. There are chapters on: properties of ammonia; personal protective equipment; safety measures to be taken in the event of ammonia escape, accidents and fires; installation of fixed storage tanks for liquid ammonia; requirements to be met by the materials for, and construction of, containers and means of transport; loading and unloading equipment for ammonia tank trucks and tankers; safety measures for the transport of liquid ammonia for use in agriculture. |
