Abstract After referring briefly to the industrial uses, health hazards and threshold limit values of chlorine, the booklet sets out recommendations for precautionary measures in premises in which liquid chlorine is used or stored, covering supervision of operations, storage of cylinders and drums, stability of containers, opening and handling of cylinders, ventilation, pipe work, cylinder lifting tackle, discharge of tank cars, fire precautions, compressed air lines, leakages, breathing apparatus, first aid and treatment of persons affected by gassing. An appendix quotes the relevant statutory provisions in force in the United Kingdom.
