Title Exposure of spraymen to pesticides
Bibliographic information July 1972, Vol.25, No.1, p.29-31. 5 ref.
Abstract Potential dermal and respiratory exposures, and the total exposure in terms of fraction of the toxic dose, were determined for 11 pesticides during orchard spraying with air-blast equipment. The highest total average exposure was just over 1% of the hourly toxic dose for workers applying the most toxic compound (carbophenothion). There was considerable variation in exposure to a specific pesticide depending on certain technical and environmental factors. Potential dermal exposure to each compound was much greater than potential respiratory exposure. There does not in normal circumstances appear to exist any serious risk of occupational poisoning.
