Abstract |
Following a critical analysis of the accident situation in the sheet-metalworking shop of a large automobile plant, the author presents various components of a safety programme: evaluation of existing safety measures, motivation of management, instruction of workers, refresher courses, technical safety, long-term statistics. The positive effects obtained are demonstrated by statistics. The author also gives a brief account of progress in the elimination of danger sources (as evidenced by non-notifiable injuries), accident investigations and accident costs. Management must set an example in safety matters. |
