Title Ignition and spontaneous combustion of timber products undergoing heat treatment in the timber industry
Original title Aprinderea şi autoaprinderea materialelor lemnoase în timpul proceselor de tratare termică din industria lemnului [in Romanian]

Abstract The author points out that ignition and spontaneous combustion of timber products may occur even at temperatures lower than normal combustion temperatures. The following factors are mentioned: length of heat application and the likelihood of continuous heat accumulation which affects the slow chemical decomposition process that occurs below 100°C (wood floor, sawdust and chips); gas accumulation in the heat-treatment chambers due to faults in the ventilation installation or the interruption of the hardboard-panel transport system. The following safety measures are recommended: do not halt the fans even if a fire breaks out; never exceed the specified operating temperatures; dispose of waste wood; keep the heating installations under close supervision.
