Abstract |
Intended at preliminary background material for delegates attending the XIX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work held in Istanbul, Turkey, 11-15 September 2011, this report reviews some of the achievements and challenges of the last three years since the adoption of the Seoul Declaration on Safety and Health. Contents: promoting occupational safety and health (OSH) in the world of work today; OSH and the global economic recession; estimates for fatal and non-fatal accidents and diseases; evolving patterns of employment and OSH; emerging risks and new technologies; building a global preventive safety and health culture, ILO action; looking to the future.
