Abstract Infectious childrens' diseases can cause substantial illness and complications among non-immune health care workers, and present a significant risk for pregnant women. This article reviews literature data on children's diseases (measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox and parvovirus B 19) and describes the preventive measures to be taken by health care workers to reduce the risk of transmission of these infectious diseases.
