Title Occupational accidents - Managing post-traumatic stress disorders
Original title Accident du travail - Savoir gérer les troubles posttraumatiques [in French]
Bibliographic information June 2010, No.130, p.12-17. Illus.
Abstract Being a witness to a serious and possibly fatal building site accident may cause intense emotions and even depression. In an SME, such post-traumatic stress disorders may chronically affect the functioning of the enterprise, and possibly even threaten its sustainability. The availability of specialized psychological support following accidents is still not common. This collection of articles on managing post-traumatic stress disorders in the construction sector explains how to cope with occupational accidents, includes the advice of a psychologist and presents the policy adopted by a large French construction firm with respect to the setup of a psychological cell.
