Title Cancer risks in chemical production workers exposed to 2-mercaptobenzothiazole
Bibliographic information Apr. 2009, Vol.66, No.4, p.269-273. 10 ref.
Abstract This cohort study investigated cancer risks among workers of a chemical factory in north Wales exposed to 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT). The mortality (1955-2005) and cancer morbidity experience (1971-2005) of 363 male production workers exposed to MBT were compared to those of the population of the United Kingdom. Data were subjected to statistical analyses. Significant excesses were found for mortality by cancers of the large intestine and bladder, while non-significant excesses were found for lung cancer and multiple myeloma. Significant morbidity excesses were found for bladder cancer and multiple myeloma, with non-significant excesses for cancers of the large intestine and lung.
