Title Reducing the take-home pathway of pesticide exposure: Behavioral outcomes from the Para Niņos Saludables study
Bibliographic information Aug. 2009, Vol.51, No.8, p.922-933. Illus. 49 ref.
Abstract The objective of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate the effectiveness of community interventions in promoting behaviours to reduce exposure of farmworkers' families to pesticides. Farmworker households in Washington State were divided into 11 intervention and 12 comparison communities to examine differences over time in reported pesticide safety practices. Pesticide safety practices improved in both intervention and comparison communities over time, but there were several further modest improvements in certain behaviors among the intervention community of farmworkers. Further research is needed to identify successful strategies for reducing the exposure of farmworkers' families to pesticides taken home.
