Abstract The new strain of influenza virus A/H1N1 is currently responsible for cases of influenza concentrated in Mexico and the United States. Its transmission among humans is now confirmed. Cases imported into other countries are being declared. The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the phase of this influenza pandemic alert to level 5. This Internet document presents the current situation and stresses the importance of preparedness for this pandemic, including at the place of work.
