Abstract At its 301st Session (March 2008), the ILO Governing Body agreed to place an item on decent work for domestic workers on the agenda of the 99th Session of the International Labour Conference (2010) with a view to the setting of labour standards. This report was prepared to serve as discussion material for the Conference. Topics addressed: specificity of domestic work and decent work challenge; existing ILO standards; definition of domestic work; working conditions; social protection law and practice; combating forced labour in migrant domestic work; enforcement of labour laws; collective organization of domestic workers; ILO and other international initiatives; towards international standards on decent work for domestic workers.
