Title Cataracts in airline pilots: Prevalence and aeromedical considerations in Japan
Bibliographic information Sep. 2009, Vol.80, No.9, p.811-814. Illus. 23 ref.
Abstract A retrospective cohort study of 3780 Japanese airline pilots revealed 105 (2.8%) cases of actual or past cataracts. In no case was visual acuity sufficiently impaired for the pilot's licence to be suspended. It is recommended that more attention be paid to potential cataracts in pilots in the future.
