Abstract Often, cases of violence, bullying or sexual harassment at work are attributed to the personality of the perpetrator, overlooking the role played by the organization, the work team and the tasks to be accomplished. This study examines the contribution of these risk factors to the incidence, development and persistence of abusive and violent behaviour at work. It involved a literature survey, interviews and questionnaire surveys.
