Title The other India at work - Job quality in micro and small enterprise clusters
Bibliographic information ILO Publications, International Labour Office, 1211 Genève 22, Switzerland, 2005. vii, 131p. Illus.
Abstract This book is based on the findings of an ILO study undertaken in 2000-2001 in small-scale manufacturing and artisan clusters in Northern India. These include engineering workshops, metalworking, hand block printing, handlooms, ceramic products, embroidery, carpet weaving, brassware, nuts and bolts, and bone and hoof products. The study involved site observation, interviews of workers and discussions of the findings during focus groups with workers' representatives. The findings confirm the need for further actively promoting decent working conditions in these sectors.
