Abstract In many foundries, furnace or ladle wrecking/relining is an area where workers may be exposed to significant hand-arm vibration. This information note presents possible approaches to reducing exposure, namely the use of the following: preformed linings or lining boards, push-out mechanism for removing spent linings, castables in preference to rammed linings, high quality materials for longer life, vibration-reduced chisels and rammers and management and environmental controls.
