Abstract During the last thirty years in France, the overall number of occupational accidents decreased by 38% while those due to electricity decreased by 69%. However, electrical accidents are 28 times more likely to result in a fatality than ordinary accidents. This article summarizes the main statistics of occupational electrical accidents that resulted in lost working days, permanent invalidities or fatalities during 2004, by cause and sector, together with the trends observed since 1990. The breakdown by job level is also given for the 108 fatal accidents included in the EPICEA database that occurred between 2000 and 2004
