Abstract This booklet is aimed at employers and workers who are not expected to come into contact with blood and body fluids at their workplace but who could nonetheless have contact with these fluids in rare, isolated incidents that cannot be foreseen. This booklet describes the health effects caused by HIV/AIDS and hepatitis B and C viruses, together with their mode of infection, and explains how to prevent or reduce exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Includes examples of safe work practices.
