Title From the traditional concept of safety management to safety integrated with quality

Abstract This article reviews the evolution of the concepts of safety and quality that have been used in the traditional workplace and highlights the advantages and disadvantages of traditional safety programmes. The concept of quality management is also presented. Safety management and quality management principles, phases and measurements are highlighted and the concepts of quality and safety guarantees are assessed. Total quality management concepts are reviewed and applied to safety quality and total safety management principles are discussed. Finally, the relationship between quality and safety is analysed based on data collected from a Spanish company.
