Abstract This information sheet is aimed at employers of small companies and provides guidance on how to manage sickness absenteeism and return to work of their employees. It summarizes what needs to be done in cases of short-tem and longer-term absenteeism to fulfil one's social responsibility as an employer and to ensure compliance with legal requirements, in particular with the Health and Safety Act 1974 (CIS 74-2099) and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
