Abstract Fatigue is a common complaint in the working population. 20% of workers report symptoms of fatigue, and acute and chronic fatigue have an adverse impact on workers' health. Main topics covered in this issue: assessment of fatigue among working persons and comparison of different scales for the measurement of fatigue; fatigue and burnout; epidemiological approach of fatigue; acute and chronic job stressors among ambulance personnel; work schedules and fatigue; need for recovery from work related fatigue; fatigue as a predictor of sickness absence; physiological factors of fatigue (blood pressure, heart rate, cortisol responses); fatigue as a risk factor of occupational accidents; fatigue in employees with diabetes.
