Abstract The aim of lockout procedures is to protect workers against injuries due to the inadvertent start-up of machinery and equipment. This code of practice on lockout procedures is intended for factory managers, factory owners, safety officers and all persons exposed directly or indirectly to the risk of inadvertent machine start up. Contents: application; scope; definitions; lockout policy and procedure; requirements for lockout procedure; implementation of lockout procedure; special lockout considerations. Appendices include a sample lockout procedure and examples of tagging devices.
