Abstract Indium is a rare metal whose industrial applications, mainly in the form of alloys, are limited. Its toxicity depends on the mode of exposure (its ingestion toxicity is particularly low) and on the specific compounds studied. Embryotoxic and teratogenic effects have been reported for several compounds. There have been no reports of cases of toxicity resulting from chronic exposures in industrial settings.
