Abstract There is some confusion, particularly in the health care environment, concerning the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) against biological hazards. This information note describes the possibilities of protection against biological hazards, specifically through the use of appropriate PPE. Contents: classification of PPEs; modes of exposure; appropriate PPE against inhalation, dermal, parenteral and conjunctive exposure.
