Abstract Contents of this Act, which has been adopted by the New South Wales legislature, but not yet proclaimed (as of 15 March 2001): application of the Act (almost all places of work, with the notable exception of mines for certain purposes); duties related to health, safety and welfare at work; scope of regulations issued under the Act; role of industry codes of practice; investigations (role of labour inspectors, entry and inspection powers of authorized employees' representatives, notification and investigation of accidents); investigation, improvement and prohibition notices; criminal and other proceedings; miscellaneous. Once this Act is proclaimed, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1983 (see CIS 90-1407), the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Act, 1997 (see CIS 99-1401) and the Construction Safety Act, 1912 (see CIS 92-716) are to be repealed. The Occupational Health and Safety Amendment (Dangerous Goods) Act 2003 (No 38.), modifying this Act, repeals the Dangerous Goods Act, 1975 (CIS 91-1763) as of 1 Sep. 2005.
