Abstract This Law defines the environment as the totality of all physical, chemical, biological, socio-economic, ethical and intellectual factors that may have a direct or indirect effect on the development of the environment, of living organisms and of human activities. Contents: definitions; aims and scope of the Law (principally, it applies to industrial plants, mines and storage facilities, and to all sources of potentially harmful emissions or waste); protection of the environment (natural or human); responsibilities of the state and local government for environmental protection; preventive measures (including prohibition of the discharge of harmful waste and other pollution into water or the atmosphere).
