Abstract B.C. Regulation 258/88 was issued under the Workplace Act, implementing in British Columbia the provisions of the Canadian Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, (WHMIS) (see CIS 89-801). Contents: definitions; scope of application (work sites where controlled products are used, stored or handled, with certain exceptions); prohibitions; obligations of employers concerning the education and training of workers; labelling; identification of controlled products in piping systems and vessels; placard identifiers; laboratory labels; material safety data sheets provided by suppliers and employers; confidential business and other information; disclosure of information in medical emergencies. An identically-phrased regulation (258/88) was issued under the Workers Compensation Act.
