They replace the Health (Radiation Safety) Regulations 1984 (CIS 92-1077), its various amendments and some related regulations. They cover: definitions; radioactive substances; notification provisions; licences; registrations; classification of radioactive sources; radiation safety testing; exemptions; general safety precautions; control of patient dose; personal monitoring; medical examinations; transport of radioactive substances; disposal of radioactive waste; enforcement. In the schedules: maximum amounts of radioactive substances exempt from the Regulations; radiation and tissue weighting factors; radiation warning symbol; maximum concentrations of radioactive elements in air and water above natural background; radiation protection limits (occupational and public). |
