Abstract This Directive does not apply to signs for the placing on the market of dangerous substances and preparations, products and/or equipment nor to safety signs used in road, rail, inland waterway, sea or air transport. Definitions of the different types of signs, employer's obligations and miscellaneous provisions. Directive 77/576/EEC (CIS 78-1458 and 91-7) shall be repealed on 24 June 1994. In annex: general minimum requirements concerning safety and/or health signs at work, signboards, signs on containers and pipes, identification and location of fire-fighting equipment, signs used for obstacles and for marking traffic routes, for illuminated signs, for verbal communication, and for hand signals.
