It is based on International Electrotechnical Commission document IEC 755 (1983) (General requirements of residual current operated protective devices) (CIS 83-1218). It specifies the classification and characteristics of the devices, normal operating conditions, structural and performance requirements, methods of testing, inspection regulations, requirements in labelling, packaging, transportation and storage. A list of items for routine testing is appended. The appended commentary includes a list of international standards concerning the same type of equipment, and comparisons of the present standard with Japanese and British standards.
