Abstract This Act received assent on 27 Jan. 1977 and commenced on 26 June 1981. Contents: interpretation; appointment of officers; establishment and role of a Mining Board of the Northern Territory; certification of mines; powers of inspection; keeping of records; appointment of mine managers; daily and weekly supervision of mines; reporting of accidents and injuries; examination of accidents; duties of employees with respect to inspecting and reporting accidents; action against holders of certificates; protection of abandoned shafts; employment of minors (below 18yrs of age) and of workers unable to speak English; winding and winding engine drivers; plans of mines (surveys of workings); issuing of regulations and rules; penalties and other legal matters.
