Abstract This Act (No.49 of 1986) was assented to on 16 Dec. 1986 and it commenced on 1 Jan. 1987. It includes modifications up to and including the Work Health Amendment Act (No.3) of 6 Nov. 1991. Contents: interpretation; establishment and functions of a Work Health Authority and of a Work Health Advisory Council; duties of employers and workers with respect to occupational health and safety; role of work health officers; conduct of investigations in workplaces; issuing of improvement and prohibition notices; health and safety committees; prohibition of discrimination against workers for actions taken in the interest of occupational health and safety; notification of accidents; duties of manufacturers and suppliers; workers' compensation and rehabilitation; legal proceedings; issuing of regulations and codes of practice.
