Abstract The safety colour cards in this standard (effective 1 Apr. 1987) include the 4 safety colours, red, blue, yellow and green, and the 2 contrast colours, white and black, as stipulated in the standard GB 2893-82 (Safety colours). This standard provides a reference for the production and selection of safety colour paints. It includes a table of datum values and permissible ranges of variation for each colour, a graphical presentation of the colorimetric areas of the colours, and a sample of the safety colour cards. The appended commentary contains comparison of this standard with the Japanese (JIS Z9101-1972) and American (ANSI Z53.1-1978) standards.
