Abstract This standard (effective 1 Apr. 1987) applies to level crossings of railroads managed by industrial enterprises (except for mine and forestry railroads), but not to railroads under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Railways. It defines the physical setup at the crossings; grades (categories) of level crossings; safety facilities and manning requirement for each grade; specifications of traffic lights, traffic signs, guard posts and road markings at the crossings. Commentaries to all divisions of the standard are appended. The Russian and Japanese gradings of railroad level crossings, and the grading proposed by the Ministry of Railways (China) are also annexed.
