Consolidated version of these regulations made on 8 May 1984 and amended to 1986. They provide for safety in the use of ionising radiation in workplaces. Contents: licences; registrations; radiation safety testing; exemptions; general safety precautions; control of patient dose; radiation safety officers; radiation protection limits (dose equivalent limit for 1yr in radiation workers is 50mSv to the whole body); personal monitoring; medical examinations; transport and disposal of radioactive materials and waste; penalties and enforcement. In the schedules: sample forms; conditions for registration of radiation equipment; maximum quantities (in MBq) of radioactive substances exempted from the regulations (ca. 180 substances); maximum concentrations (in Bq/m3) of radioactive elements (soluble and insoluble) in air and water above the natural background (72 isotopes); standards for computer tomography scanners. |
