It reviews the regulatory background, describes how exposure limits (8h-TWA) are established and explains the different sections of the exposure limit tables. The following tables are provided: exposure limits (in ppm and mg/m3) for ca.900 atmospheric contaminants (gases, vapours and particulate matter suspended in air), with corresponding CAS numbers; existing or tentative exposure limits (in ppm) for ca.350 organic solvents; exposure limits (in ppm) for ca.350 organic solvents; exposure limits (in fibres/cm3 or mg/m3) for 28 kinds of dusts; calculation methods for exposure limits when several hazardous substances are present; list of 5 welding-related exposure limits; lists of substances, processes and other factors considered carcinogenic (with reference to relevant documentation); highlights of exposure limit changes since the previous edition of the guidance note; list of substances for which the European Communities are expected to set exposure limits (88/642/EEC, see CIS 90-1430), with corresponding Danish limits.
