| Resumen |
[inglés] This standard (effective 1 Nov. 1986) sets forth a 5-level classification of risks to which workers are exposed, based on the free silica content and concentration of a given dust and on the volume of air breathed per day per worker in the presence of the dust. Appendices give a method for determining free silica and a guide to sampling. The commentary attached to the standard lists the properties of various dusts (including silica contents), the volume of air breathed per day in various occupations and the dust hazard level in factories and mines, based on measurements made in 1981, 1982 and 1983. |
