Abstract This act revises and complements previous Belgian regulations concerning definitions of different categories of occupational accident (fatal accidents, accidents resulting in total or partial permanent work disability, accidents resulting in temporary disability) and compensation conditions. It prescribes conditions governing medical, surgical and pharmaceutical treatment, and conditions of payment for workers who are injured on the job. It requires employers to take out insurance against occupational accidents and lays down special conditions applicable to seamen and to compensation for accidents connected with special hazards.
