| Abstract |
Plantations are defined as agricultural undertakings regularly employing hired workers, situated in tropical or subtropical regions and mainly concerned with the cultivation or production for commercial purposes of cash crops (e.g. coffee, sugar cane, cotton). OSH aspects covered by the Convention: compulsory medical examinations; provision of transport; maternity protection; workmen's compensation; labour inspection. OSH aspects covered by the Recommendation: hours of work; welfare facilities; workmen's compensation for injury or occupational disease. |
